10 Apr SECRETS SPILLED: HOW TSE YONG DID IT
What are the top 3 myths that SMEs have believed about digital marketing that are untrue?
1) It is expensive
2) You need to have IT know-how
3) It is for big business
How did you manage to gain traction at the start while your product/service was still relatively unknown/not proven? (i.e did you use effective visuals, testimonials, influencers, effective copywriting, discounts and promotions etc?)
For Fitlion/Gymmboxx, we manage to find the pain points for our customers which are expensive supplements and memberships.
We came in to solve that by creating a market for affordable supplements and gym memberships. By leveraging on social media, we manage to create a community of customers who like our brands.
When would you recommend doing it internally vs outsourcing?
It depends on the stage of the company. I would recommend at the early stage of building the company to do it internally and after reaching a revenue of more than $8 to $10 mils, you can consider outsourcing supporting the internal team.
How do you keep your followers constantly engaged?
We are currently using marketing automation and social media to keep our customers constantly engaged.
What is one piece of advice that you have for traditional SMEs hoping to start but without much capital or expertise?
Start small and use be creative in using free or low cost digital marketing tools to get a sensing first before spending a lot of resources on digital marketing.
